Comments on: did obama state he was black when he applied for grants and loans and scholarships for college?

Was he supposed to lie on the application ?
Was he supposed to say he was White and then be prosecuted for fraud ?
I don’t understand the question.

I don’t know, but if such grants and loans are available, he has every right to apply for them.

You know, if you look at the assortment of grants out there, you’ll find just about anything. Grants for children of immigrants, for citizens of southern Wisconsin, for recovering alcoholics. If you qualify for one of these grants, and you apply for it, are you doing something bad?

I would think when it came down to race ,he seems to identify himself as a black man .I feel he could have identified himself as multi-racial .I don't think he put down white, because he seems to have a problem with his white grandmother. Obama has bought into that whole Malcolm X persona.Dr MLK now he was a uniter who made wonderful speeches who was a man of principles .Malcolm X was not.

No, but when he showed up for the interview, guess what, THEY NOTICED!! And when you apply for jobs, how many people will not hire blacks because they think that blacks are lazy and stupid. The race card works both ways, although a lot of whites don't want to talk about the disadvantages of being black in a white society.

I am as mixed as he is and do find it frustrating that I’m basically not on the list. Sometimes I get to check "Other" or check all that apply.

BTW – Affirmative Action was a program put in place by … wait for it … Richard Nixon.

You know darn well anyone could apply for loans and grants. Obama applied for loans and had over 100Thousand in debt after graduation fro law school. so did his wife.

He’s certainly entitled to do so. Why would that be "playing the race card"? Those forms ASK you to self identify your ethnicity. Hello?

Obama was an excellent student. He would have been sought after in any event.
