In addition, some attend community college and pay out-of-pocket and then transfer to a lower-cost 4-year (in-state) public university. People who take out huge loans are being ridiculous in my opinion (with the exception with some professional degrees). You just have to choose a school you can afford. You could go to school for $8,000/year or $60,000/year depending on the school you choose.
