		<description>Once you&#039;ve graduated, you&#039;re stuck with the bill.  Grants are not retro-active since, when you took the credits, you were living at home that&#039;s the basis for that loan amount.  Also, since you&#039;ve graduated you&#039;re not even eligible for grants period.  I know this because I went back to get certified to teach and once you have an undergrad degree, you&#039;re not eligible for any grants period (that&#039;s according to the financial aid department at my college).

It&#039;s a shame that your parents aren&#039;t willing to help you out, but the government just says, basically, that&#039;s the family&#039;s problem not theirs.

What you can do if you haven&#039;t already is: consider consolidating your loans.  When you do that you can extend your repayment plan so that you have a longer period to repay the loans and smaller monthly payments.
