enough to attend college with, like from FAFSA, that you have to take out loans each semester also, is this true or not ? How so ?
That would depend on how much money a person has to their own name and if their parents are helping them pay for college. Myself, I am attending a four year college with an average of 12,000 dollar tuition per year (about 15 credits per semester) but this doesn’t include room and board, parking permit, textbooks, other fees like health and sports, etc. Myself, I get absolutely no parental help in paying for college and I wasn’t able to get a summer job (I tried….only takes 100 applications to get denied by 100 different places). Frankly, if I didn’t get any financial aid, I was be scewed….I wouldn’t be going to college. Not only that, my older sister is understanding of the financial situation of me so she will give me a couple hundred dollars,…she’ll claim I deserved it since I babysat her kids ofr a couple of hours but I know better. Honestly, without my sisters contrabution I wouldn’t have been able to attend college this fall semester that just ended. But, I know plenty of students who have parents that pay for all of the college bill, and some that only pay for half, than some parents only pay for the school supplies like textbooks (as is the case with my current roomate)…but she also had a job for several years prior and had money saved up and she works a few s days a week currently, so she has enough money for a year and a half or mores tuition already. Other than that I will also see some students who claim they can’t afford college buy yet they go out and buy new clothes from places like Hollister every month and they order Pizza Hut all the time…

The government also grants unsubsidized loans. These are not as good. … Work-study jobs are designed for college students and are set up to allow them … these small jobs is that the government takes almost no taxes from your paycheck. … If you absolutely cannot take out loans or do not want to go into debt, …

Really it depends on the costs of the college or university you will be attending. I get grants and it covers all my expenses but it is a small 2 year college. When i start my masters i know that grants alone will not cover the costs of the University I will be attending.. Then a lot of people take out loans to cover other costs. (I.E. housing, transportation, child care, ect.)

It is true. If your parents make any money, you won’t get any grants for college.
It sucks.

Believe me it’s true! I am struggling to afford my next pizza – never mind party. I have two jobs and it still isn’t enough. I am constantly tired and this impacts on my study time. Other than that grants are for maintenance only. You will take out loans to cover your study fees. Income from a job gives you an affordable social life.
