Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally is one of the primary scholarship programs available in the State of Georgia. A HOPE Scholarship is one of the most unique scholarship programs available in the United States. It is available to students of public and private colleges and universities located in the state. The students must be pursuing a degree, diploma or a certificate program.

The Hope scholarships were instituted in 1993. Since their establishment, these scholarships have benefited more than 900000 students. Approximately $3 billion has be disbursed in the form if HOPE scholarship till date.

In order to apply for the HOPE scholarship, you have to go through a very simple process. The application process starts in June every year. In the said month, guidance office of each high school in the state of Georgia prepares a list of the students who are considered academically qualified for the said program. The students are required to have completed the Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant Application. Other than this, it is a must that the student must have completed certain courses to a certain level. In these cases, there is a provision of award of retroactive hope scholarships. For this they are required to be secure a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above. They are also required to have either complete 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours.

In case of those students who studied from an institution under the purview of Accrediting Commission of Independent Study, the CGPA requirements are waived off.

The Hope scholarship covers your entire tuition fee in case you are studying in a public college. Your approved mandatory fee is also covered in such a case. In addition to this a $300 book allowance is disbursed for an academic year. The expenses that the student is required to bear on his own include the boarding and lodging expenses.

In case you are studying in a private college, you get $3000 as your Hope scholarship. Apart from this, you are also eligible to get $900 from Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant.. Hope scholarship is a great gift for the students who capable and can do well with an extra push.
