The Health Resources and Services Administration of the United States Department of Health and Human Services awards nursing scholarships to eligible candidates along with a number of such scholarships in the areas related to medical education. Since the number of qualified medical practitioners in the United States is not very impressive and the country has to frequently allow foreign trained professionals, the HRSA has introduced these scholarships.

The eligible applicants get their fixed monthly stipend by the end of the month for which they are counted. You can expect the money to reach to you at somewhere around the beginning of the next month. For example the nursing scholarships for the month of November would be disbursed by the end of that month. The money would reach you around 7 December. Also consider that the first stipend is released only after the student has completed a minimum of 15 days.

Roughly the eligibility criteria for these nursing scholarships requires that you must be citizen of the United States of America, you must be pursuing nursing education from a properly accredited institution whether full time or part time. In case you are not free of any federal judgment liens or existing service commitments, you are not considered eligible for these nursing scholarships.
