Grants And Scholarships For Moms – Free Education Money Courtesy Of The Federal Government
If you are a single mom, you already know the difficulties in making financial ends meet every month. A college degree could boost your earnings but you may be wondering how you might afford to pay for the degree.
The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 released a large amount of funds for educational grants and scholarships. Single moms, as well as others, may qualify for up to $10,000 per year. If you have ever considered going back to school to get a four-year degree, you will be pleased to learn that private organizations, non-profits and the US government have college grants and loans at the ready. You simply need to apply and qualify.
Stafford Loans
Direct Stafford Loans are made by the US Department of Education. You will make loan payments directly to the Department of Education. Federal Stafford loans are extended to borrowers through local banks and credit unions, but they are backed and subsidized by the federal government.

It is reserved for individuals who declare an intent to teach in certain public and private elementary and secondary school districts. Your declared teaching discipline must be in a ‘high needs’ field, such as Math, Science and Foreign Language skills.

Federal College Financial Aid Application
Very few of the students aspiring to do their university degree can really afford to pay for it on their own. They would either have their parents supporting them or would require financial aid to do so. Most would have to apply for a student loan or financial aid of some sort along with their college application. The Federal Student Aid application can be filled online for an educational loan. This would seem to be a difficult task when you look at the form and wonder what is required for you, but just follow the directions and you can manage to do it pretty easily.
What you should look out for are the deadlines which are given on the website and make sure that you submit your application in time. Different states may have different deadlines and the same would apply to different schools. So make sure you read the details properly.This can be done by mailing it to them online or you could mail a hard copy to them. The forms are available in English as well as Spanish. While applying for financial aid online remember to see whether you need to attach any other documents to your application as it maybe rejected if you have not complied with all the requirements.
Make a check list of the documents you will need to submit at some time during the processing of the student loan. You would need your social security number, W-2 forms and also records of any earnings which you had in the earlier year, income tax returns, in case you do not have one then your parent’s return details, your driving license and if you have a spouse applying for a similar loan all the documents related to your spouse too.
For those who are not citizens of the country they would have to show their alien registration card or the permanent resident’s card. Other documents which will also be required are mortgage papers if you have any mortgage to pay, what your current employment or business is and of course your latest bank statement.
